Dyer County Boys Finish Runner-Up at Hornet Classic

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Dyer County Golf turned in a strong performance Monday at the Hornet Classic at Humboldt Country Club, with the Choctaw boys finishing second overall in a competitive field. Dyer County posted a team score of 303, finishing behind tournament champion Jackson Christian, which shot 289. The Choctaws edged several strong teams, including USJ (314), Dyersburg (315), Henry County (318), McKenzie (321), TCA (321), Crockett County (345), South Gibson (349), Gibson County (350), Milan (363), South Side (370) and Peabody (421). Jarrett Harrison led Dyer County with a 71 and finished as the tournament's second medalist. Harrison's performance continued a strong season for the Choctaw golfer and helped DC secure its runner-up team finish. The remainder of Dyer County's scoring included Beau Thurman with a 78, Jamison Rhodes with a 75, Miller Williams with a 79 and Grady Patterson with an 81. On the girls' side, Dyer County finished with a team score of 200. Molly Roberts led the Lady Choctaws with a 95, while Halle Flagg shot 105. Henry County won the girls' team competition with a 151, followed by South Gibson at 157 and USJ at 164. The Hornet Classic was one of the final events on Dyer County's regular-season schedule. The Choctaws and Lady Choctaws will return home Tuesday afternoon to wrap up the regular season at The Farms Golf Club, where they will host Ripley, Halls and Trinity Christian Academy.
